What is the difference between MBR membrane and granular sludge process?

MBR membrane Both the granular sludge process and the granular sludge process are common processes in the field of sewage treatment. They can achieve better treatment effects, but they are different. 1、 Operating principle


MBR membrane process realizes the separation of biological pollutants through membrane plates installed in the bioreactor. When sewage passes through the membrane plate, pollutants will be filtered off when entering the membrane plate, and clean water will be collected in the lower part of the reactor after passing through the membrane plate. MBR membrane process is completed in this way, and the process requires zero sludge. MBR membrane process can combine sewage treatment channel and membrane filter into one, and is responsible for wastewater treatment through the smallest specific coke size reactor (high unit sewage volume) and membrane filter.


The granular sludge process decomposes the organic matter in the sewage by adding the biological activated sludge when treating the sewage. The process of combining biological, chemical and physical actions to complete sewage treatment. This treatment method mainly eliminates organics in sewage through microbial metabolism, and this sludge can also play an active role in the treatment work by removing harmful chemicals in sewage.


2、 Treatment effect


MBR membrane process can quickly and effectively remove harmful substances in sewage treatment, while maintaining the original quality and quality of water. Membrane plate can separate biological and granular sludge. Through its pore diameter and size, membrane plate can effectively cut off pollutants and make clean water flow to the lower part of the reactor. Granular sludge process is a treatment mode based on microbial metabolism, which can eliminate most pollutants in sewage. Through the complete retention of solid waste, together with the control of all biological acid production and oxidation products, it can produce an efficient and stable waste elimination effect. This advantage is shown in reducing the probability of healing, ensuring quality stability and technical feasibility.


3、 Equipment maintenance


MBR membrane process is to combine sewage treatment devices and membrane plates. The treatment cost of this method is much higher than that of other processes. But because the device frame can operate for a long time, the basic part of the whole equipment is more durable than other processes. Therefore, the maintenance of the equipment can be achieved by keeping the operation of the wallboard clean, proper and frequent inspection and more preventive measures.


Granular sludge process collects microbial sludge through floaters, sediments and other plankton, and mixes these sludge with sewage to complete the treatment. Since the equipment of granular sludge process is relatively small and there is no membrane plate and other devices, it is easier to maintain and cost saving than the equipment of MBR membrane process.


4、 Purified water quality


The treatment level of MBR membrane process is higher than that of granular sludge process, because the membrane plate can prevent impurities in sewage from being discharged through pores, and can also ensure that the quality of clean water output is not subject to fluctuations. In addition, membrane plate filtration can also effectively remove microorganisms, viruses and other dust, thus reducing the harm of water quality to human body.


Granular sludge process can eliminate most organic components in sewage. However, due to the lack of membrane plate stacking and filtration, the purification water quality is not as high as MBR membrane, and uneven treatment effect is prone to occur. Therefore, if you want a higher and stable purified water quality, you can choose the MBR membrane process.


In general, MBR membrane process and granular sludge process have their own advantages and disadvantages, and appropriate treatment processes need to be selected according to the actual situation. MBR membrane process is applicable to areas with excellent treatment process and high water quality requirements, while granular sludge process is applicable to areas with low water quality requirements and moderate cost.
